Moshe Vilozny was born in Portland Oregon, and raised in Santa Cruz California. He comes from a musical household, and fell in love with music as a child singing songs in Hebrew with family and drumming on the table. Moshe studied piano and saxophone in elementary school, before switching to guitar in middle school when he came across his dads old Guild guitar. That's when he started writing, singing, and recording his original songs.
Growing up Moshe spent summers with family in Israel where he was exposed to many different types of music and cultures. After graduating from high school, he took a year to travel throughout Latin America to study Spanish and music. All of this exposure to world music inspired him to form the band Universal Language while studying music at Cabrillo College. He released his first full-length studio album "Revolución" as part of his capstone project as a Language Studies major at UCSC. The album features my original songs in English, Spanish, and Hebrew.
In 2016 Moshe released his 2nd album of originals, "Lost & Found". The album is still in rotation on several prominent west coast radio stations including KPIG. It's well received release secured him an invitation to perform at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in 2019.
With the arrival of COVID in 2020, Moshe took advantage of the pause in live music by going back to school and receiving a masters in elementary education as well as a single subject credential to teach music. He currently works as the music director at Gault in Santa Cruz. Moshe has just finished recording some of his most honest and intimate songs to date and he is currently touring in support of his new 2026 EP “Sand In My Pocket” available to stream, on CD, and on vinyl.
